Q&As
How do you approach diversity and inclusion?
We believe that placing peer-to-peer relationships at the heart of learning creates huge potential for a more inclusive approach to education. We also know that a very deliberate effort is required to deliver those benefits in reality. A top cited value point for Enrol Yourself participants is that they learnt alongside people they wouldn't otherwise have met and were able to exchange their perspectives, ideas, experiences and more.
We want to welcome and support anyone with a strong intention to take part in our programmes, and aim to ensure that your identity or background will not be a barrier. Whilst we don't have it all figured out yet, we are working on it.
What does the programme look like?
We launch with a ‘Kick Off’ weekend to meet & co-create our 6 month adventure. The overall Marathon is split into three phases, Explore, Develop & Showcase, held together by fortnightly meetups & peer coaching. This mix of fortnightly workshops & peer support is the backbone of the marathon. Each phase culminates in a ‘Power Up’ day to share and deepen our learning, including a final showcase. Our journey ends with a well earned ‘Finish Line’ weekend retreat, tailor designed for us, by us!
Will it be online or offline?
The hope for this Learning Marathon is to blend the power of human face to face connection with the flexibility of online sessions. The Kick Off weekend, Power Up days and Finish Line weekend will be physical meetings in a central London location, and fortnightly meetups held online. Of course, 2020 has taught us that things can change in an instant, so we’ll respond to the needs of the group (and the world), and adapt as required :-)
Why is it only for People of Colour?
Let’s face it, white supremacy in the UK doesn’t prioritise the success or wellbeing of POC. Sharan believes that creating spaces for POC is a revolutionary act of collective empowerment. Offering a level of shared experience, mutual understanding and deeper trust, POC only groups can affirm, uplift & heal. Will race always be on the agenda? No, but it can be when we need it to be. Something that will be on the agenda though, is an open invite to share some banging tunes & well seasoned food ;-)
How much does it cost?
The cost ranges from £500 - £1250 dependent on your circumstances and finances. Bursaries and payment plans are available, and there’s a 10% discount for early bird applicants who are accepted. If you’re able, we encourage you to contribute to our higher tier, making it possible to offer lower cost places to those with less income. We’re aware that this is a financially precarious moment for many, so please reach out if you need support.
Can my employer pay for me?
Of course! Let Sharan know this is an option for you, and tick the box in the form below for some information specifically targeted at employers.
